LawNet: broadening knowledge and services
Formed in 1989 on principles of independence, mutuality and collaboration, LawNet
is the UK and Ireland’s leading network of independent law firms. Ruth Saunders
caught up with chief executive John Thomas to discuss the benefits of LawNet and
to see how the organisation is diversifying to meet the ever changing needs of its
members and their clients.
LawNet was established to enable a collaborative, non competitive national network
where independent, medium sized law firms could access big firm resources and benefit
from collective purchasing, shared knowledge, best practice and expertise.
John Thomas said, “LawNet aims to lighten the load and provide everything a practice
needs so members can concentrate on earning fees and running a more successful,
faster growing and profitable business. Furthermore, we only recruit one firm in
any town or local market, which means membership immediately delivers tangible,
sustainable competitive advantage.”
