AIM Advisers 2008 - in association
with Altium Capital
In current market conditions flotations on AIM, while still possible, are difficult
and time consuming. The important thing, for companies looking to float, is to talk
to an adviser such as Altium Capital as early as possible in order to prepare themselves
for when the markets are more receptive and economic conditions are once more showing
signs of recovery.
Whilst the IPO process can be complex and daunting, Phil Adams of Altium Capital
thinks that rather than be concerned over the process details, by appointing the
right advisers early enough, the process should run relatively smoothly, minimising
disruption to the business. He said: “Whilst an IPO can be conducted in as little
as six to ten weeks, it is best managed over a longer period allowing time to prepare
the company and the management team for the IPO process.”
The economic climate has materially affected the number of AIM IPOs in recent times.
From January 2008 to September 2008 there had been 92 AIM IPOs; this is in contrast
to the 217 AIM IPOs for the same period in 2007. (Source: AIM Statistics)
