Interim Management – End of Year Review
With Interim Management becoming the buzz word for crisis management and turnaround,
Corporate UK spoke to a number of leading UK providers and promoters about the last
twelve months in the industry and their forecasts for 2009.
The Ipsos MORI Market Audit, on behalf of the Interim Management Association (“IMA”),
for quarter two of 2008 showed a fall to 390 against the 433 assignments completed
in quarter one. However, it should be noted that the quarter two figure is comparable
with the number of assignments completed in 2007.
There were 414 new assignments started during quarter two; a decline of 135 from
quarter one. There were no notable changes in the male vs female split of the interim
executives on assignment, with three quarters of all assignments completed by males.
The spread between the private and public sectors has widened from quarter one returning
to its levels of quarter two in both 2007 and 2006. Public sector accounted for
37% of all completed assignments in quarter two; 4% less than quarter one of 2008.
